Reverse Balayage
Reverse Balayage is a popular colour request in the salon as it transform bright blonde hair in to a low commitment hair colour.
While balayage is all about subtly brightening up hair, reverse balayage adds darkness and dimension back to light hair.
Balayage has been a secret behind many celebrities sun-kissed colour for many years, as seen on Olivia Palermo, Gisele Bündchen, Olivia Wilde and many more.
This colour request and trend doesn’t have to be really dark, it can simply be an option to break up overly highlighted hair with some natural dark tones through the root area. This colour look works great on mid- length through to long hair.
At STIL we approach the reverse balayage technique slightly differently as we work on creating dimension on the root as suppose to taking the whole hair darker. This is a great option for hair that feels too light and bright on the root area.
Instead of brown hair that appears highlighted, reverse balayage makes highlighted hair appear lived-in and sun-kissed with rich depth and dimension, sometimes with multi coloured roots that blend in to brighter strands.
We also love using this technique on highly highlighted hair to create a soft re-growth with brighter ends for a seamless blend.
To keep the colour looking fresh in- between visits we suggest to use Wella Professionals Color Save shampoo paired with Wella Fusion conditioner. As multi tones and depths are often added to this technique it is important to use a shampoo that locks in colour and prevents unnecessary colour fade.
